Todd lives in a world of men, Noise and Manchee’s bathroom needs. In the New World Noise infects every man, child and animal, allowing their thoughts to be heard by everyone. Such a disease could send a man insane. For Todd, he’s knows no different. Women all died before he knew how to walk and Prentisstown is the only settlement in the whole wide world. Todd is the last boy and soon he becomes a man, but until then his dog – Manchee – is his only friend. At the moment Manchee needs a poo and that leads Todd to the beginning of the end. For in the swamp there is a patch of silence and that is impossible. Bearing that secret and holding the key to others Todd must leave Prentisstown or face a worse fate. However he will not be travelling alone, Todd had Manchee and…a girl.
A fantastic dystopian novel with characters that go on a journey full of action, humor and hope. Patrick Ness has captured a world so like our own but a few centuries ago and added scary and alien circumstances. I think ‘The Knife of Never Letting Go’ has deserved every credit and is totally recommendable to those looking for a book they just can’t put down!
